National consultation on items of low priority currently prescribed in primary care

In July this year, NHS Clinical Commissioners (NHSCC) and NHS England launched a national consultation on items which should not be routinely prescribed in primary care.

The aim of the consultation is to support Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs) in ensuring that they can use their prescribing resources effectively and deliver best patient outcomes from the medicines that their local population uses.

The consultation will close on Saturday 21 October.

A number of engagement events for members of the public are also taking place over the coming months - details can be found on NHS England’s website.
